The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.
Day 1… I had very little self-confidence, no desire to get off the couch, and an overall dislike of myself. I remember sitting with Karen talking about goals for the first time ever… No one had ever asked me what my fitness goals were and why I was at Crossfit to begin with. I told her that I would love to do a triathlon or some kind of bike race but never really believed I could do it. As time went on, Spinning classes peaked my interest and challenged me along with fitness classes 4-5 days a week and I started to believe little by little that it is possible to do something amazing.
Day 45-60 I had a desire to motivate and coach others and I spoke with Karen about becoming a Spinning instructor. I didn’t hesitate to sign up for the training, at the same time I decided it was time to get my nutrition under control and sign up for the BikeMS 100 mile ride all around the same time. My work weeks were 40-55 hours, Crossfit fitness Monday-Wednesday, Spinning Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday occasionally. I rode a longer bike ride in preparation for the ride once a week. My nutrition did a 360 degree turn all at the same time. I was scared but I knew that I had 100% of the Crossfit team behind me! Every single person motivating and being positive helped every single day. I felt busy and sometimes frustrated, but it never failed that during every workout, every Nutrition counseling, or during any moment that felt overwhelming, Karen and EVERY single Crossfit coach including the athletes believed in me.
Today… I am 30 pounds lighter, feel great, and most important, KNOW THAT I CAN AND WILL DO ANYTHING I WANT TO! It is about having a goal, it is about sticking to the program, it is about believing in yourself, and most of all, surrounding yourself with positive, motivated, and strong people… people like every single person reading this… So to you I say this:
- Set a goal! Pay for it, sign up, do whatever it takes!
- Eat right! Get on the nutrition program, especially if you are tired of your current energy level.
- Train for your goal!
On October 18th, 2014, I completed 100 miles on a bike for BikeMS. I felt great! I had the motivation to finish. I had the drive to win. I had a great team of Coaches behind me. As I rode, I pictured the finish line, Karen, Whitney, Marty, and of course Fenway there to greet me, I started getting emotional thinking of where I was to where I would go from here… I just started the “All-in” program and have been thinking of my future goals. I see a 5k, a Triathlon, and some Crossfit competitions in my future.
The journey is just beginning. See you along the way! Thanks for being part of my inspiration! -Jeremy
